SPRING HILL, Fla. (CBS12) — A missing baby kangaroo in a diaper prompted a bizarre search in a Central Florida community on Wednesday.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said the unusual search started near J.D. Floyd Elementary School after the kangaroo — wearing a blue harness and a diaper — was reportedly last seen hopping toward Plantation Palms.
The sheriff’s office posted an update at 3:50 p.m., stating that the kangaroo was last seen near the Wind Chime Tree at around 3:20 p.m.
Ten minutes after the initial update was posted, the sheriff’s office said the outback safari was over and the four-month-old kangaroo was captured in Plantation Estates.
It was a story you had to see to believe. The sheriff’s office posted a photo of the Animal Enforcement officers, HCSO deputies, and the mischievous kangaroo.
